This really just means that HTML is a formatting language. It tells browsers how to layout and display the content on the page. Access to basic HTML gives you greater control over the appearance of your pages. Learning HTML is like learning how to hit the bold button or insert an image or a text box in Word.

Experiment.
The second rule of learning HTML:
Steal.
