Welcome!
You must have stumbled onto this link from somewhere (Twitter, my USCOTS poster). If you click on Modules, you'll find the OER Data Displays module that I created as part of two different grants.
You can find the material presented in that poster, here:
π Data Displays ModuleTeach Access Faculty Grant
Teach Access Links to an external site. is is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization collaborating with education, industry, and disability advocacy organizations to address the critical need to enhance studentsβ understanding of digital accessibility as they learn to design, develop, and build new technologies with the needs of people with disabilities in mind. They provide faculty grants Links to an external site. for those looking to teach their students about accessibility. I realized as I was working to make my course accessible that writing alt text for graphical displays took A LOT of stats knowledge. So when I saw the grant pop up on Twitter, I saw immediately how I could incorporate accessibility into my class while still focusing on statistics content and communication. I ended up adding a content page about accessibility in data visualizations to my module on exploring data, and then including that (and more) in their weekly discussion board post on Displays in the Wild β I still need to update that particular assignment to give some info on using a Screen Reader as an option for checking alt text. Last, I put a option for their portfolio to go explore accessibility around them β collecting data and creating a display and summary about it.
All of this content can be remixed as you'd like. If you use Canvas and would like to import the module to edit / use, you can find it in the Canvas Commons here: Module 2 Canvas Commons Link
Community Online ZTC Project
This work was also partially funded by the San Diego Community College District's Community Online ZTC Project Links to an external site.. This project is funding my work to redo my current OER Elementary Statistics course with formative assessments using H5P through LibreStudios and ASCCC. I will be working on the remaining modules over the summer.
