Karl Cameron, M.A., MBA

I am a career counselor with over a decade of experience in higher education, specializing in outreach, counseling, and advising. My journey began as a long-time community college counselor and career development professional. I’ve worked with diverse student populations at the San Diego College of Continuing Education.

My passion lies in helping students navigate their career and academic pathways. With expertise in general, transfer, and career counseling, I’ve also played a key role in college event programming, student development, and career assessments. My professional background spans multiple industries, including telecommunications, professional placement, account management, pharmaceuticals, and academia.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Diego State University. I later completed my Master of Business Administration with an emphasis on Technology and Innovation from Walden University. Additionally, I hold a Master of Arts in Education, focusing on Counseling and Guidance, with an emphasis on College Counseling and Student Development from Point Loma Nazarene University.

In my career, I served as the president of the San Diego Education Consortium from March 2016 to September 2017. I was honored to be selected for the SDICCCA internship program in 2016, and I completed my counseling internship at San Diego City College in May 2017. As a career counselor, I began my journey with the San Diego Community College District at San Diego Miramar College. During that time, I also served as a career and general counselor at Grossmont Community College.

I am a lifelong learner and a dedicated mentor, deeply committed to inspiring others to discover their unique gifts and talents. My role in academia is to create the conditions necessary for students to succeed, and I am passionate about empowering them to achieve their goals.

I am available for students currently attending classes or those who have less than a year since their last course at San Diego College of Continuing Education.
