When you add instructional content to your course, write assignment instructions, develop a discussion topic, or write an announcement, you'll use formatting to enhance the readability of your material.

Students can more quickly activate a schema or scan for information when pages are formatted for online reading. In this short course, we'll explore how the following page design elements can help you build user-friendly pages that support learning:

• Consistently use headings
• Create bullet and number lists 
• Create descriptive hyperlinks
• Create tables with proper headings
• Apply colors appropriately for contrast and meaning
• Include descriptive alternative text with every image
• Provide videos captioning and transcriptions for audio files
