Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the micro-courses be available?
The content will be available indefinitely. If you have registered for any of the @ONE micro-courses through Catalog, you will be notified by email if there are any changes to the content availability beforehand.
How long will it take to go through the course material?
This micro-course is self-paced and includes videos, quizzes, and hands-on activities. There will be no facilitators. Plan to commit at least an hour for each module. Each module may vary considerably in length and complexity. Participants who are familiar with Canvas may progress faster. Unfortunately, it is difficult to predict individual time commitment.
What background do I need?
This course assumes prior knowledge of basic accessibility principles; however, there are opportunities for review. It is helpful to be familiar with Canvas. If you need additional Canvas support, please see the various Canvas Guides and Canvas Helpline.
Do I need to buy a textbook/course materials?
No. All lecture are published in this Canvas micro-course. However, you will need to download the Canvas Course Canvas Accessibility Demo Activity Set for the hands-on activities. Please read How do I import a Canvas course export package? for additional support.
First, Practice with the downloadable Canvas Accessibility Demo Activity Set
Please download the Canvas course file Canvas Accessibility Demo Activity Set. This download consists of two modules. One has several hands-on activities. The second module contains the answer key.
Then upload this file into a new course (without students) or an existing sandbox to begin. You will not need to turn this module in, as it is used more as a knowledge check to help you practice applying new or practice accessibility principles.
For faculty with limited access to independently create new courses or do not have a sandbox, you may do the following to take advantage of the hands-on activities:
- Download the Canvas course file Canvas Accessibility Demo Activity Set, and upload into a course (preferably without students. If there are students, ensure the module is "unpublished" to avoid confusing them.)
- Contact your local Canvas Admin or Distance Education Office to see if you can obtain a sandbox.
