MOST is here for you - Mesa's Ongoing Support for Teaching
Mesa's Ongoing Support for Teaching (MOST)
Mesa College has a team of faculty excited about supporting you in all things teaching! MOST's mission is to infuse equity into all of teaching and learning modalities. Our MOST membersLinks to an external site. are teaching colleagues from across Mesa. We can help you brainstorm ideas for your face-to-face teaching, troubleshoot stuff in Canvas, design online courses, and so much more. Check out the tabs below to learn more about MOST.
Every semester MOST offers a 4 week asynchronous facilitated online training cohort. These are great opportunities to be in the shoes of an online student yourself, and to connect with colleagues as you learn more about online course design and facilitation. In Spring '24 MOST will be offering "Include." If registration is still open at the time you're accessing this, you'll be able to Register for Include24 with this form.Links to an external site.
Testimonial: I also liked that our cohort feels free to be, to glean ideas and also to just enjoy being together, even though we are all coming together in different times of the day and night. - Prof. Cecily Heisser
Looking for course design advice/ideas from a Mesa colleague? Our MOST coaching service offers both synchronous and asynchronous coaching support for Mesa faculty:
Our online students need support too! MOST has been working with Mesa Student Services to offer an online orientation Canvas course for Mesa students wherein they can connect with the Mesa services available to them while practicing being successful online students. This orientation allows them a chance to get familiar with technologies, wellness topics, and general academic topics while building community online. Then when they begin their actual online courses they're ready to hit the ground running.
At SDCCD, the same faculty appraisal form criteria is used for evaluating all of our courses - no matter the modality. For many, this results in confusion and guesswork when it comes to evaluating online courses. The Course Check Up document aligns faculty appraisal form criteria with online course design & practice examples.
