Canvas Basics
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) that we use at our District and across the California Community College system.
- Login URL: https://sdccd.instructure.com
- Username and Password: Same as SDCCD Email (outlook)
Starting July 15th, Canvas will begin using the District’s single sign on (SSO).
SSO means that faculty and students will be able to use their SDCCD Email to sign into Canvas. (PeopleSoft still has its own login credentials but is expected to move to single sign on Winter 2025.)

Accounts & Shells
- All Mesa faculty automatically get a Canvas account once you are assigned to teach a course in the District schedule. You do not need to request a Canvas account.
- You will automatically receive a Canvas shell for each section you are assigned to teach in the District schedule. You do not need to request a Canvas shell.
