Syllabus Requirements

Module 3 Administrative Procedures

It is important to have your syllabus ready and revised for the new school year. A syllabus provides detailed information about what students have to expect by taking the course at the college. Since the syllabus contains many college policy-related items that may be boring for students, you may want to take a few extra steps to spice up your syllabus.

Current course descriptions, course learning outcomes (CLOs), student learning objectives, course outline and scope, as well as other course details (suggested textbooks etc.) are often updated as part of the curriculum process. It is important that faculty reference our curriculum management system, Curriqunet META Links to an external site., to ensure syllabus information is consistent with what is part of current curriculum. Adjunct faculty do not have edit/login access in the Curriqunet META system, but can use the course search function to find the course and Course Outline Report (Co) to view the active course information. Additionally, Course Learning Outcomes should also be listed. Your department outcome coordinators (DOCs) can help provide this information if you need it.

Here is a handy Syllabus Review checklist from San Diego Mesa College Academic Affairs Committee to use when building your Syllabus.
