Your Department Responsibilities 

Your responsibilities to your department will vary, so be sure to maintain contact with your department chair so that there are open lines of communication. Here are some of the more general responsibilities that part time faculty members at Mesa have to their departments. Several of these items were covered in Module 1 of this course, so be sure to refer back to that module for specifics.

  • Accept faculty assignment in mySDCCD portal.
  • Attend your department meetings. The details will be shared via email. 
  • Check your district email regularly.
  • Request keys and alarm codes. 
  • Obtain a parking pass
  • Email course syllabi by the second week of class to: Dean (or designated administrator for the department), Department Chair. and Dean's administrative assistant.
  • Communicate personal absences as soon as possible to Dean/department administrator, chair and promptly enter leave into mySDCCD portal.
  • Align syllabi with course outline of record in Curriqunet Meta Links to an external site..
  • Ensure Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are accurate in syllabi (check with department chair for CLOs).
  • Check syllabi for required texts
  • Print syllabi for your students (ask for printing budget number from your chair/dean's office)
  • If teaching online, be sure to complete the SDCCD Online Faculty Certification Program Links to an external site.
  • Check your campus mailbox
  • Acquire your rosters via mySDCCD portal
  • Acquire permission numbers via mySDCCD portal
  • Conduct Course Learning Outcome assessments and report results to the Department Outcomes Coordinator (DOC).
  • Participate in curriculum 2/6-year review/revision discussions.
  • Report textbook materials to the bookstore by deadlines (including OER).
  •  If interested in participating in committee/shared governance process, contact your department chair about an assignment that may work for you (AFT funds may be available)
  • Submit adjunct office hours form with syllabi to Dean/department administrator according to deadlines.
  • Meet FLEX requirements each semester and report completion according to deadlines.
