Finding and Saving Sources

You can save and download the full text of most articles. “Full text” means the entire article is available to read. Just look for a link labeled "PDF," "Read online," "Full Text" or something similar that will take you to the full text version of the article.

However, some sources in databases and OneSearch aren’t always linked to the full text, and you may only see the citation or abstract (a short summary) of the article. This is because some content comes from databases that only include the citation or abstract for the source, but not the full text.

In this next section, you will learn how to find the full text of a document and save it appropriately.

Finding Full Text

In most cases, you will see an HTML or PDF link to the full text of the article. If the full text is not available in a database, there are a few options you can try.

Google Scholar

To search for items not available through our databases:

  1. Go to Google Scholar Links to an external site. and run a search for the item you want.
  2. Search for the title of the article. It helps to put the title in quotation marks.
  3. Select the item you are looking for.
  4. Select either the "View it @ Miramar College" or the link to a PDF or HTML.
