Registration

The last day to register to vote online or by mail in California is Monday, October 21st. After this, you may register at a county elections office, polling place, or vote center on or before Election Day.

By exercising your right to vote, you not only participate in an important civic duty, but help choose leaders who align with your values and priorities. What is a bond?

A bond issue places a question before voters as a ballot measure, asking them to approve or deny additional proposed spending.

A school bond election is a bond issue used by a public school district, typically to finance a building project or other capital project. These measures are placed on the ballot by a vote of the school board. The school board repays the bond with property tax revenue.

Bonds are issued to fund new facilities or schools; improvements to school security and classrooms; facility maintenance; school buses; classroom technology; administration buildings; and athletic fields.

What is Measure HH?

Measure HH will appear on the ballot for the November 5th election. If it is passed, the city will issue bonds to raise $3.5 billion for new facilities and to improve existing ones in the San Diego Community College District.

Mesa’s needs from this funding have been laid out in our Mesa 2030 Comprehensive Master Plan, developed over the last 6+ years by the Mesa 2030 Taskforce. Proposed new plans start in Section 5 of the linked pdf (page 74).

The Master Plan includes a ranking of priorities for new and improved facilities, based on a variety of factors. The document goes into great detail on how these rankings were developed. Some of the highest-priority new facilities include:

A new building to house English, English Language Acquisition (ELAC), and student resources like The Stand, Honors, Affinity Spaces, Veterans Services, and Student Services Complex, etc.
A new performing arts complex that would also, on the top floor, house Administration
New parking structures and campus way-finding
New athletics facilities that expand student and community involvement
A new Community Clinic and Allied Health labs and classroom
A new Child Development Center and childcare facilities
State-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and performance arts facilities
Kinesiology labs and classrooms
Possibly on-campus student housing
