From Vinegar to Honey: Student-Focused Syllabus Language and Policy Choices

Despite being a document for students, the syllabus is oftentimes written with the professor as the primary consideration. This workshop will re-focus the language in syllabi so students feel more welcome and encouraged (especially in remote classes) without sacrificing rigor and accountability. We will review multiple examples of language used in syllabi, and attendees will be able to collaborate on Google Docs and / or Google Jamboard to revise their own syllabi policies.
