Course Terminology

As a college student, you will be exposed to new terms related to your education. You've already learned a few like your enrollment date, general education (GE), etc.

Here are a few more that will be essential when you select your classes:
Prerequisite: Courses that must be completed with a "C" or better prior to taking the next level course. Corequisites are courses that are required to be taken at the same semester as another course. Advisories are departmental recommendations of courses that should be completed prior to enrolling in the desired course.

Information about prerequisites, co-requisites, and advisories can be found in a course's description.  Students are able to clear their prerequisites through our district forms site at: www.sdccd.edu/students/forms-and-documents.aspx Links to an external site. .

Below is an example of the course description for ENGL 101. If you review the Enrollment  Requirements, you will find information about the prerequisites for this course.
