Financial Aid (FAFSA/Dream Act)
Simply put, financial aid is money provided to help students pay for or defer the costs of attending college. Certain requirements must be met in order to receive and maintain financial aid. For example, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA (Grade Point Average) with completion of a minimum 67% of units attempted to continue receiving financial aid.
There are two different options in applying for Financial Aid |
Free Application for |
California |
Available to U.S. Citizens & Permanent Residents | Available to Eligible Undocumented Students |
Students only have to apply for ONE of the financial aid application options. Both applications are available every year on October 1st. Students will need to apply every year to be eligible for each academic year they attend college. By completing the FAFSA or CA Dream Act application, students may be eligible for various grants, work-study, and/or loan programs. An example of one of our state financial aid programs is the California College Promise Grant (CCPG).
California College Promise Grant (CCPG)
The California College Promise Grant (CCPG) will automatically cover the cost of enrollment fees (tuition) of $46 per unit for qualified California residents. This is different from our San Diego Promise program which will be covered on the next page.
