Run the Make Accessible Action Wizard
The Make Accessible action walks you through the steps required to make a PDF accessible. It prompts to address accessibility issues, such as a missing document description or title. It looks for common elements that need further action, such as scanned text, form fields, tables, and images.
You may also need the Reading Order Tool for objects that are not recognized in the Tag Panel.

Introducing the "Make Accessible" Wizard
The Make Accessible Wizard addresses identifying issues found within a PDF Document.

Above: the Make Accessible Action Wizard here may look a bit different from your version but has the same functionality.
Make Accessible in Acrobat DC Pro:
- Click on the Tools menu.
- Find the Action Wizard tool near the bottom of the list, under the "Customize" label.
- Click on Action Wizard, and a list of actions will appear on the right-hand side of the Acrobat Pro DC interface.
- Select the Make Accessible action, and the Make Accessible Wizard will replace the list of actions.
- Click the Start button, and follow the instructions and prompts.
- The final action will be to run a Full Check on the document.
Completing the Action Wizard
Once you are presented with the Accessibility Checker Options, you are at the final step of the Action Wizard. The following pages of this module will explain how to run a Full Check and evaluate the results.
Run the Action Wizard!
Locate the Action Wizard, and start the Make Accessible action wizard, as described above. Use the following guidelines when responding to the Action Wizard prompts:
Step 1
Description window: enter meaningful and accurate data for each field.

Step 2
Recognize Text - General Settings: Output is "Searchable Image" and the setting for "Downsample To" is 600 dpi.

Step 3
Select "No, Skip this Step" when asked if the document is intended to be a "fillable form".

Step 4
Set Reading Language: select the appropriate language for the document.

Step 5
Images missing alternate text: Acrobat Pro will find any images that are missing alternate text descriptions and prompt you for a description.

Step 6
Accessibility Checker Options: Set your options and click "Start Checking" to complete the final step of the "Make Accessible Action Wizard."
