Record a Welcome Video

A short video is a great way to welcome students to your course beyond text on the screen. Canvas Studio is available to faculty and students at SDCCD, and it integrates hosting and makes it easy to edit the captions of your videos. 

Video Recording Instructions

1. Create a Welcome video with Canvas Studio (or with another tool that you are more comfortable with already)
2. Edit the captions for your video so that they are accurate
3. Embed/Link your Canvas Studio video wherever you intend to share it with students (link in an email and/or embed in a Canvas announcement)

MOST recommends:

• Being welcoming in your welcome video
• Telling students something about you as an imperfect human 
• Keeping the video shorter than 3 minutes
• Editing the captions so that they're accurate
