In Canvas Grades

Want a quick way to initiate contact with your students who didn't do so well on Exam #1? Or maybe you'd like to quickly congratulate students who did well. In the video below, we'll show you the "Message Students Who" feature in Canvas Grades. You'll find it at the top of your assignment grade columns and it allow you to quickly send out individual messages to group of students.

Use the dropdown menu of your grades column to find the Message Students Who option

You'll be able to choose from the following options.

Message students who...

Haven't submitted yet
Haven't been graded
Scored less than
Scored more than

The subject will be autopopulated, but it can be customized.

Message students who scored less than 70 on the exam

Write your message in the Message field, keeping in mind that this message will be BCC'ed to all message recipients, so omit individual names from the message text itself. Once the message is sent, you'll find those in the Sent box of your Inbox Messages tool.
