Customize your Course Card on the Canvas Dashboard

Your Course Card is the image that displays for your course on the Canvas Dashboard. If you click on Dashboard, you'll find several course cards - one for each of the Canvas Courses in which you are enrolled. 

Want to customize your Course Card for your students on the Dashboard?

You can create an image from templates with a free Canva account Links to an external site.. (Note: Canva not Canvas, is a free browser-based graphic design tool with several templates and graphics that you can use to create your free Custom image for your course.) The required size for the Canvas Course Card image is 262px width by 146px length. Once your course card image is ready, follow the steps below to update it for your course.

Step-by-Step

  1. Click the course card to enter course.
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click on tab labeled Course Details
  4. For Image, select Choose Image
  5. Click Browse Your Computer
  6. Find File and Open
  7. Scroll Down and Update Course Details
  8. Open Dashboard to Confirm the new image is displayed

Keep in mind that this image is displayed globally now to all accounts enrolled in the course.
