No matter which option you choose, your files will be stored in the Canvas Files tool. You'll find the Files tool in your Course Navigation menu. We recommend keeping those files organized in folders within the Files tool. See the Option 1 video below for organizing those files first.

Option 1: Use the Files Tool

Now that you have uploaded your files to the Files tool in Canvas, students could just access them there. It's not a visually appealing interface, but it gets the job done.

Option 2: Create Homepage with Links to Files

Some of you may want a more visually appealing option, or you may want to accompany those files with text and images which you can't do with just the Files tool alone. In this case, you'll need to go with option 2: Create a Home Page with links to files in the Files Tool:

Option 3: Create Modules with Links to Files

If you have several files, and that home page gets a bit unwieldy when managing/accessing the links, you might consider using Canvas Modules to organize your files instead. Option 3: Using Canvas Modules to Share Files with Students.

Options 4: Use Linked Canvas Pages

If you have a lot of files/links to share with students, and the long scrolling Modules page is not your favorite, then then you may consider this option. You can skip modules all together and create pages that are linked to each other. The following video will show you what this looks like and how to set it up in your course.

Hide Files link on Course Navigation

If you choose Option 2, 3, or 4 for making files available to students, then be sure to hide the Files link on the course navigation menu.
