Let's Practice!

Before you jump headfirst into sketchnoting that conference presentation, give yourself some opportunities to practice. Here are some for you to try. Do as many of the following practice exercises as you need. Before continuing to the next page of the module, spend at least 1 hour of practice time.

  1. In a sketchnote, answer the following question: Why do you want to learn sketchnoting?
  2. Sketch a favorite quote that you'd like to remember. 
  3. Sketchnote your plans for summer 2018. 
    1. Sketchnote a favorite recipe, your favorite movie plotline, your family tree, or your favorite sport. 
    2. Sketchnote your to-do list for the day. Links to an external site.
    3. Fill a page with stick figures
    4. Fill a page with images of things you saw today.
    5. Sketchnote a restaurant meal. 
    6. Fill a page with the alphabet, each time writing it in a different font. 
    7. Fill a page with road signs. 

    Ready, Set, Practice

    1. Select a topic from above.
    2. Get a piece of paper and a pen/marker. 
    3. Use the 10 minute timer below. Allow yourself 10 minutes for the topic that you've selected.
    4. Repeat this practice for as many of the topics as you like.
